30,000 Island Tour

Summer voyages on TS Playfair and STV Pathfinder are the core of our program and provide an experience unlike any other. You will be an active member of the crew and live, eat and sleep onboard our Tall Ship. By the end of a voyage, you will know the fundamentals of how to sail a Tall Ship and be certified as a Brigs ‘Lead Hand’.

But it’s not all sailing! Activities during your voyage will include swimming, singing, campfires and exploring ports and anchorages throughout the Great Lakes.

Trip Description This course begins in the beautiful sheltered waters of Parry Sound before heading out through windswept rocky islands into Georgian Bay. See why it’s called the 30 000 islands on your way south to the popular sailing ground of Severn Sound. Experience the challenge of learning to sail a tall ship, and then kick back to enjoy swimming at island anchorages.

Join us as a Trainee 

As a trainee, no previous experience is required - the youth officers of TS Playfair will teach you everything you need to know. To join summer youth courses, trainees: Must be 13 to 18 years of age. Must be comfortable in and around the water. Must be physically and mentally able to participate safely. We also recommend all trainees and parents review the FAQs and the Pre-Voyage Training to prepare themselves with what to expect on their voyage!

Please note the following:

Cost is per trainee in Canadian dollars ($CAD) and does not include HST. A $400 booking deposit is required at registration.

Course itineraries are approximate and subject to change according to schedule and weather conditions.

For all voyages, participants can either be dropped at the Hamilton office on the day of departure for a shuttle to the vessel or can be dropped directly at the departure port no later than 1pm. The fee to take the shuttle is $50 each way, and can be added during the booking process.
