Sea Cadets - Brigs, Sail Training Tall Ship in Ontario, Canada

Sea Cadets

Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Tall Ship Weekends

These programs are designed for groups of 15-22 sea cadets, taking place on weekend dates in June and September in Hamilton Harbour. The curriculum has been developed with L.Cdr (retWalt Dermott, CD, OMC, to meet Canadian Sea Cadet training requirements.

Activities support LHQ training and and allow for additional PO/EO work and confirmation of skills for each Phase level, including

  • Line and Sail Handling
  • Safety and Emergency Procedures
  • Climbing Aloft into the rigging
  • Helming and Watchkeeping

The FTX weekends are preceded by this LHQ training for each Phase. A prepared Operational Order is available for modification as well.

The Phase 1 and Phase 2 weekends have been running since 2022. Teaching is led by our volunteer crew, and supervised by our Transport Canada certified Captains and First Mates. Scroll down for photos of past Sea Cadet weekends aboard TS Playfair for an idea of what to expect!
